Another old journal poem, this one written on an unseasonably hot day in April 2011, this edit doesn't differ a great deal from the original notes

The Back

Nothing but invective
A hard spring and a hot one
“she used to be a stunner and she can’t let go”
Not now
The powerwashed gum
The reconstituted where
Building up the building
The sun’s blasting gains

The street’s too much
The scene too studied
A brick’s missing
A sign’s on backwards
The continuity
She’s an extra in your
